Tampa Electric and Peoples Gas have joined forces with the Westshore Community Development Corporation to make the new Westshore Landings development an energy-efficient, greener community and a prototype for future developments.
Westshore Landings is a new affordable housing townhome community in Tampa, being developed for low income homebuyers, allowing them to live closer to the area they serve and reduce their carbon footprint. The development, scheduled for completion in the fall of 2008, includes 57 Builder’s Challenge-rated townhomes, the majority of which will be sold as affordable housing units to purchasers who meet income requirements. Homes are being manufactured by Palm Harbor Homes.
Tampa Electric and Peoples Gas are uniquely positioned to combine the benefits of both energy sources to create an advanced environmental profile for new residential developments.
Westshore Landings is a prototype development that can be studied in the future as a new form of a sustainable residential community. Both Tampa Electric and Peoples Gas hope it can be expanded in the future to developments in the Tampa Bay area and beyond.
