Westshore Landings will be one of the first communities in the nation to meet the United States Department of Energy’s aggressive building performance program known as Builder’s Challenge. To achieve the Builder’s Challenge certification, a home must have 30% higher energy efficiency/energy cost savings than the average new home -- twice the efficiency rating of an Energy Star home.

Tampa Electric and Peoples Gas have also partnered to place distribution equipment for both energy sources underground through joint trenching. A joint trench offers a lower impact to the environment, saves time and resources which results in lower installation costs through these combined efforts.
